Aaron McDonald, Principal Timpanist – Vancouver Symphony Orchestra

Aaron McDonald, CBC 1992, Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and a Masters in Orchestra Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Aaron McDonald is Principal Timpanist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Principal Timpanist  with the Lake Tahoe Summerfest Orchestra. Prior to joining the VSO, he was timpanist with the West Virginia Symphony and performed and toured with the Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony, and the Buffalo Philharmonic. Since moving to Canada Aaron has performed with the VSO Chamber Players, Calgary Philharmonic, Turning Point Ensemble, the National Broadcast Orchestra, the Music on Main concert series, and recorded several film scores. He has been a featured soloist with the VSO, Calgary Philharmonic, and the Lake Tahoe Summerfest Orchestra. He currently teaches at the University of British Columbia School of Music and is head of the percussion department at the  Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music. Aaron endorses Pearl/Adams Percussion and REMO Drum Heads.

James Doyle

James Doyle, Hazelwood Central 1993, Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri, a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance from Louisiana State University and a DMA in Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas where he is an Artist-In-Residence.  He is an Assistant Professor of Music and Adams State College in Colorado. Drummer Joe Meyer is a current member of Craig Campbell’s band. With Craig, the band appears regularly at the Grand Ole Opry, tours both nationally and IMG_0080.JPGinternationally, and has appeared on the Today show. Originally from St. Louis MO, Joe earned a B.A. in Music from Webster University.  His career has lead him to tour nationally and internationally with artists such as Nikki Hill, John Nemeth, Seth Walker, James Harman as well as many others. He has recorded on over 50 released albums with such producers as Toby Wright, Steven Haigler, Jason McEntyre, Jacob Detering, and Justin Fischer.  Some people I’ve had the pleasure to work with…Kim Wilson and Preston Hubbard of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sarah Bettens of K’s Choice, Peter Case (The Plimsouls), Nikki Hill, John Nemeth, Javier Mendoza (Hobo Cane), James Harman, Superjam, John McVey, Matt Hill and the Deep Fryed 2, and many, many more…

As a sophomore, he successfully auditioned for the jazz band auditions being placed in the 7 o’clock band, and as a junior, successfully auditioned for the 5 o’clock band. Since graduation, Nathan has been freelancing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and will soon be moving to Nashville
